Fashionista!

Obsequious, always, to the beautiful ones wearing leathers and feathers who “mischoose the objects of their adulation and reward.”

What thoughts or visions do their fedoras warm? Where is the heart over which their armor serves to protect?

May a simple one, not so ornately adorned, gain entry into their “magikal,” “mystikal,” elfin dome?

O, you extollers of fashion’s virtues, my cotton work jeans have walked with me long and far and the stains of freight cars upon them mark miles your limos could never cover,

To places where guitar chords ring, and skin drums pound, at fire circles too far in and too far out to be thumped by the synthetic sounds of music made on machines, where fire tenders dance regardless of fashion sense, as all of us must certainly do again, in the coming days when smoke and ash fills the air.

    hmmmmm
    sounds like you've got beef
you try to point out a superiority complex with your own superiority complex
meanwhile generalising and stereotyping people for the clothes they wear
    are you ok?
    do you need some help?
    you seem lost

... someone who may not be into fashion might construe fashion as shallow or some-such.

But let me contribute: fashion is non-verbal communication. For a long time, I was pretty unconscious about fashion, consigning it to the bin of lightweight concerns, if that. As a video editor (and other reasons) I'm in my own head a lot, and that's fine. But I realized that other people were having trouble reading me, plus I thought clothes would make a fun medium to play with - so I started paying attention to fashion to express part of my eye, and to help others read me better. It's invited more people to tap me on the shoulder than it ever put off, in my experience anyway.

The personality of the wearer - that may depend. But interactive hierarchy is something you can choose to opt out of; and if you think someone is throwing shade, all you need to do is step away & into the sunlight.

      cheers

The only ones who bitch about the people who dress better than them are the ones that are insanely jealous. The rest of us just enjoy the view.

Like the long whiny rant from some dork after Symbiosis about the Beautiful People From the Future. It might be fun to put a lot of care, artistry, time and money into dress, but its just not for me. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate that others do it. Doesn't mean I gotta project my own character flaws onto those who dress nice because I wish I did but I'm too poor, lazy and tasteless.

My mistake. Perhaps 'whiny old neurotic hippy', would have been a more accurate choice of words.

I couldn't be bothered to read the responses in that thread. Probably more whining hippies projecting they're neuroses.

i hope everyone here, no matter what they are wearing and no matter how distracted they typically are from being friendly to everyone in the scene because they're busy doing their clique's thing (which btw, give em a break, its a greater cultural issue, not a specific one to any group of people), is willing to step up and lend a hand helping you remove your foot from your mouth.
(or for that matter, other body parts of yours that seem to need removal from inside others)

your walking paths and hours in the shade have made your skin cold.
dust off, traveller, come closer to the fire for a drink to warm your soul.
don't take ones ego so seriously.
    find amusement in the fool.
we are all just as foolish in some way or another.
    the trickster is prancing!
yes, even in the beat of the skindrums, even in the smoke and ash.
