The Synthetic Dream Foundation's newest album "Mechanical Serpent" is currently finished and being manufactured as you read this. The album is a stylistic continuation of the sound created during the last two albums, with a deft fusion of industrial, IDM, electronica, and orchestral music. The album features guest vocals by Marcela Bovio (Stream of Passion and The Gathering), Summer Bowman (the machine in the garden), Susan Siren, and Tamara Kent. The album is being released by Mythical Records, and will be shipping on Feb. 18th 2010. The album is currently in pre-order from both TSDF's and Mythical Record's websites for the price of $10. 2010 ART HAPPENINGS

Request for Aerialist/Performance Artist

Deadline: Nov. 5th

Project Benefits: Resume piece. Photographs of your work. Promotion and exposure to new audiences and movement artists. To be a part of inspiring collaborative work.

Eligibility: Open to artists living in the Bay Area

Description:

This is an invitation to enter and exciting collaboration with performance artists experienced in belly dance, butoh, and aerial dance within the San Francisco area for projected local events and in Los Angeles (for benefit events benefiting an Ethiopian village in Africa).

We will have an installation sculpture piece that will suspend from the ceiling and be climbed upon by one to three aerialists. The sculpture will be an animal skeleton design.
We will have a production team to help work out the rigging and tech logistics. We encourage collaboration of resources, networks, and contacts as a group, we desire more exposure and events.
We prefer artists working in aerial, modern dance, butoh, and the likes. A deer skeleton with antlers is our aim for this particular project. The theme will be fusion, and the structure will be structurally sound for aerial climbing. We like the effect of a skeleton with antlers.

The choreographers are Jill Parker & Monikah Barriga. We are loosely working with the theme Fusion for now and that may evolve and change as we go (tribal fusion belly dance, butoh philosophy as it relates to audience and environment, and aerial movement with theatrics). Jill has 22 years of experience as an international bellydance teacher, choreographer, director of Ultra Gypsy and the Foxglove Sweethearts. Monikah has eight years of experience in butoh and a fusion of aerial arts for venues such as Symbiosi, LACMA, Coachella Arts Festival, INBA Museo, Solids sculpture events, Electric Daisy Carnival.

This will be an excellent opportunity to learn how to work with other artists in a collaborative environment for venues we are targeting such as Yerba Buena Center or the Arts, Supper Club, Ethiopian Benefit Events hosted by Marco Guzzardo.

The Heron Project

Basically, we're just getting together what people are going to be using the space, and whoever might be interested in using the space. If your any kind of burner/artiist/musician/performer etc, swing by around 7ish or so to chill out with some like minded peeps and let us know what you think, what you might want to do, see, etc. Concrete Jungle has an RV, a generator, a sewing machine, tools, 15 couches, and a 6500ft2 warehouse to get things started.. If you have some skills you want to show off, some records you want to play, beers to drink, drums to play, bring 'em.

Create:Fixate judges art on talent only. We request a minimum of 10 images from each artist. For quick submissions, you can email jpgs that are 72 dpi to 120 dpi or your website link. Please include a short paragraph about yourself as well as information explaining the medium/media of your artwork.

beatfreakin' vibes to the church.....Nanda will be comin' in to debut some of his newest musical creations as he celebrates the release of his new EP on muti music, just out and available currently on exclusive promo release at Addictech. Nanda has once again graced us with a blessing of bass for our subwoofers with the Constant Change EP! Typically dipping into multiple influences and emerging with something broken in beats and flirting with Dubstep/Grime, Garage, Electro and Downtempo shapes, the result is something that pushes a few edges technologically and somehow retains a sense of worldliness. In Nanda’s music it’s common to catch samples of Didgeridoo, Ood and ancient chants amongst other organic instrumentation. All in tracks that have some of the most crunchy electro breaks grooves, and the result is an intense ecstatic dance experience waiting to happen. Circus tour of Ugandan Orphanages and building bamboo playground on Mt. Elgon.

This April and May I plan to be back in Uganda, and so I'm gathering a crew to tour teaching circus skills, green building and gardening.

I'm good with a hoop and can walk a slackline. I love building with bamboo. We'll create the Temple of Lost and Found on the slopes of Mt. Elgon. Think of it as the creative-comfort vibe of a Burning Man camp, crossed with the nature and good food of a rainbow gathering, and lots of kids--very sweet kids, who need lots of love, because their folks died in landslides. This is in connection with a village of 2000 people called Bunabumali, in Uganda, on the border of Kenya.

With help from Pacific Domes and Jeff Taylor, I got a 60ft dome from the playa to Mississippi after Katrina to hooked up with a Rainbow kitchen, and we rocked it for nine months. We'll do this grassroots style in Uganda and Mexico too.

Ola church goers, as you know we here at beat church have always been about showcasing up and coming artists to bring you the freshest sounds and give the much needed exposure to our people who deserve it. This Thursday is no exception as we bring to you Cumulus. A native of Santa Barbara, CA, Sam Fairweather aka Cumulus has been playing electronic music since 2002. He spent 3 years as a fundamental organizer of a series of Word of Mouth full moon parties in the mountains of SB. His favorite time to play is sunrise. His favorite bpm lies somewhere between 70 and 185 bpm, but almost always deep, psychedelic, layered, and heavy. He has been working on a selection of deep and moody beats of his own and is ready to deliver some cloudy and funky tunes for the church. By now you have come to know and trust us when we tell you "you gotta check this shit out"
So come check it as Cumulus throws down his audio offerings for the

B.E.D. challenges every single Burning Man theme camp to make sexual assault education part of their camp business. We are asking every camp to sit down with your members and discuss the issue and responsibility of sexual exploration at Burning Man. How do you broach this sensitive subject? We have developed a short outline to help you out. It's easy!

Gather your peeps around (or use an email forum) and read the following:

"We want our campmates to be open and to enjoy any and all sex you may have at Burning Man! However, every year there are incidences of sexual assault on the playa and we want our beloved camp mates to be safe! So, even though it's an awkward subject, we would like to briefly talk about sex and what behavior we expect from all of our camp members. To promote this awareness, the Bureau of Erotic Discourse has asked up to endorse the following guidelines for safe sexual adventures:

#1 Always ask before touching, even if you know them! It's polite, it's good manners, it will earn their respect.

#2 Respect your partner's desires and boundaries. How do you find them out? ASK! Again, it's fun and sexy to find out a little about your partner before diving in.

#3 Do not have sex with an intoxicated or stoned person... not only is it technically against the law, but it is potentially very hurtful to that person. And what fun it that??? If you have made a sober pre-agreement with a partner and go get fucked up, thats cool... but do not pick up a drunk, high hottie and take advantage! Be smart, take care of your partner, cover your butt, get sober ... then get some conscious luvin'.

#4 Card your partner... OK, maybe that's exaggerating but please make sure your potential partner is of age. There are some darn hot underage peeps old out there, so be aware! Again, we don't want anyone hurt out there.

#5 If you hear or see one of our campmates in trouble, step in and ask if they need help! We would like it if you did this with anyone out there, but we absolutely expect it with our theme camp family. We take care of each other! In addition, consider buddying up when you go out for the evening. Guys watch out for the women, and vice versa! We do not want any of our family member assaulted this year.

#6 If, god forbid, someone does get assaulted or feels threatened in any way, we want you to know right now that we support everyone here! No matter how it went down- tell us. The festival map is now posted online. Please take a good look at it, figure out where you think you'd like to camp (If you've been before and know the land) and make plans with your friends to meet up. The entire festival grounds are divided into vegetable patches to make it easier for you and your friends to find each other. Each vegetable patch has a shuttle stop so you know where you and your stuff will be dropped off.

We highly recommend taking some time now and figuring out where you'd like to be camped. It will make the entrance process that much easier for you and your friends.

That would be an 8x12 cabin with rooftop rainwater collection.

A simple and fairly inexpensive solar power system that I might
recommend for instance, might consist of 6 - SQ 160 Watt PV panels,
One MX60 Controller and 4 L-16 H Deep Cycle batteries along with a
nonda power center and a battery bank desulfator.

Forget Flourescents unless you like to eat mercury. The time is now
for the low voltage LEDs.

We are still looking to organize a group of volunteers to
help out some good folks one day out of the week, with some
organic gardening and we still do need someone to take Minutes
at the next meeting.

It would be possible, I would think, if there is a single female or
two out there who is cool about living closer to the Earth then
I may be able to provide a place for you to live, for
maybe 6 months out of the year up where I live in Northern
California.

Greetings from spiritual technologies...
I am writing to invite you all out out to celebrate my 38th birthday on this Thursday Feb. 28th (my actual birthday) @ shine. My birthday just happened to fall on the Thursdays that my good friend and soul brother Mozaic is doing his new monthly at shine "MIXTAPE" I will be closing out the night around 1:00am and in the style of my interpretation of "mixtape" will be playing and extra eclectic set retrospecting my 24 years as a dj. I say this coming from the humblest of places..."prepare to get schooled".
Get ready for tunes you never heard before because they are so new and
also ones you haven't heard because they were before your
generation. All woven into a tapestry of sound in a way that's danceable but is also a lot about hearing an incredible selection of incredible music from across the spectrum. Hope you all can make it out to share this

New tribe for New East Bay community space... The Pearl

When magic, healing and ritual come together their child is creation.

This is the intenttion of the Pearl. This space will host circus arts, dance and movement, sewing.design and healing arts.

The Pearl will be a play space of safety and magic, allowing us to deepen within ourselves and within our community.

Come celebrate the birth ov a new community center in the East Bay.
We will begin with an opening circle at 8:30 and we will carry on till
2 or beyond.
